Table of Contents
BOOX works with 17 ebook formats, and we split them into two categories: the fixed layout and the reflowable layout. We provide different settings for them in the Format Tab, so you can adjust their layouts and read them easily no matter how they look.
For Fixed Layouts
You will learn about how to adjust the layout of fixed formats, including PDF, DJVU, CBR, CBZ, PPT, PPTX, etc.
Single Page View: Displays one page at a time, with no portion on other pages visible.
Enable Scrolling: Displays pages in a continuous vertical column that is one page wide.
Two Page View (Left to Right): Displays each two-page spread with no portion of other pages visible with the page order from left to right.
Two Page View (Right to Left): Displays each two-page spread with no portion of other pages visible with the page order from right to left.
Note: Switching to Two Page View will automatically change the screen orientation to horizontal (landscape) view.
Zoom In / Zoom Out: Changes the magnification by preset levels.
Marquee Zoom: You can drag a rectangle around a portion of the page that you want to fill the viewing area.
Pinch-to-zoom: Enables / disables the pinch-to-zoom gesture.
When the page exceeds the display area after zooming, tapping the page-turn area will go to the previous/next part of the current page. You need to use the page-turn buttons in the Floating Toolbar, or tap the Reset button in the Floating Toolbar or in the Crop menu first to use the page-turn area normally.
When the page exceeds the display area after zooming, you can also tap the Pan button in the Floating Toolbar to enable/disable this function to pan around the nearby area.
Crop / Margin
Auto Crop (Fit Page): Automatically crops the view to fit the full page. You can also adjust the Margin setting to fine-tune the cropping effect.
Auto Crop (Fit Width): Automatically crops the view to fit the width of the screen. You can also adjust the Margin setting to fine-tune the cropping effect.
Manual Crop: You can drag a rectangle around a portion of the page to manually crop the margin.
Reset: Reset all zooming and cropping settings and return to the original view.
Note: Marquee Zoom and Manual Crop have similar functions. Tapping the page-turn area in Marquee Zoom status will go to the previous/next part of the current page, while tapping the page-turn area in Manual Crop status will go to the previous/next page, so use Manual Crop only to crop the margin of the pages.
Here you can drag the slider or input a value to sharpen the font.
Navigation is a separate tab at the bottom of NeoReader. It only shows for fixed layouts and can help you better read them.
For files with two columns, you can choose Comic (Manga) Mode and Article Mode. These two modes can divide a single page into several subpages for easier navigation. You can also tap the More button to customize the subpage division settings based on the file layout.
Comic (Manga) Mode: This mode is designed for manga files that are read from right to left.
Article Mode: This mode is designed for articles that have more than one column on a page.
More (Subpage Division Customization): Here you can customize your subpage division settings such as the single-page / two-page cropping, number of subpage divisions and reading directions.
For files with only one column or consisting of unselectable texts, you can choose Reflow to reflow the documents based on the file type.
Scan Type: This is for scanned files without selectable text. It can automatically perform a subpage division after setting the original file layout and your reading preference.
Text Type: This is for files with selectable text. You can then customize the layout to use functions in the Format tab for reflowable documents.
After reflowing a file, you can adjust its Font and Spacing in the Format Tab.
If you want to start over with the Navigation Tool, you can tab the Reset button to return to the original settings.
