Audible doesn't play audiobook on Boox Air C
I can install Audible app and log on to my audible account on Boox Note Air C. It however could not play a single audiobook. When clicked "play", an empty error message pop up and no sound can be heard. This however isn't a problem for App "Audiobook". Please help.

Same issue here. I have spent several hours troubleshooting with Audible and no help there either. If I convert the audiobook to mp3 it plays fine on the device. If I use the built in music player or an app like Smart Audiobook. Just not in the audible app.

So a quick update. I have been chasing this down the rabbit hole for several hours now. I have found this is not an audible issue but a system issue, I believe. I have found that many apps are being disabled almost immediately. Substack, I installed it and started reading, and all was fine until I closed it. Once I went back to find it, I see it is gone from my apps. I opened the play store and find it is disabled. I tap to enable and then open the app works fine. I go about doing other tasks and come back to find Substack is gone again. I find the same issue. I also notice now that the Chrome browser is gone from the app list. I open the play store and the same thing happens. I started reading the forums and Reddit and find that this is an issue related to battery optimization. There is no way to fix this on the Onyx launcher or in settings. I installed a third-party launcher that then gives me access to actual Android settings. I find that the apps are in fact being set to be optimized. I can switch the setting, but it doesn't stay. So something in the onyx code is causing this in my opinion. This seems like the bug we are chasing rather than an issue with just the audible app.

I have exactly the same problem. My Boox Air C shows my library, downloads books, but as soon as I try to play downloaded book, I get a blank error message with an OK icon. I've deleted app and re-downloaded and installed and deleted downloads and re-downloaded. Audio books play with every other app (Google Book, Chirp, Scrbd, and Kindle Narration.
Does anyone have a suggestion.... Thanks

Thanks a lot for your deep investigation, Jeremy. I don’t have the same level of tech wizardry and so I could only applaud your skill and effort. Now I wonder how can we get Onyx’s attention to look into the issue. Any ideas?

UPDATE - I just installed the new update for audible on the Nova C and have successfully downloaded and can play four books. So it may seem they have fixed whatever was going on. I also discovered that if using a third party launcher the battery settings do not work with ONYX. I believe that that is what was causing the apps to be disabled. It doesn't seem that you can change thoise battery settings through the launcher / android settings panels as the ONYX settings remain in effect. Not sure if that is worth anything to anyone but myself but there it is.

Same, same for me. Scared me when it actually started playing

I submitted a ticket in the feedback Section under settings on the device. We should all do the same. I think that by adding to this thread anything we find out and up voting the replies along with submitting tickets to boox is the only way we have a hope. I am thinking about a way to post it in the Facebook group as well.

I have both an Air C and a Nova 2. Neither will play downloaded Audible books. However, both will play books from the online Audible app. The Air C through the built-in speaker and the Nova 2 via Bluetooth earbuds. I did ask Boox for help and they supposedly took a video of the Air 2 playing an Audible book and sent it to me as an attachment. Something here does not compute!

The audible app works great on my tab x and my tab ultra. I can get audio books to play in several other apps and as an mp3 in the booxs music app. I can even get the kindle app to play the very same book with the audible book that downloads with many kindle books. Just not in the actual audible app.
