4.0 Update Disaster!: No Toolbar, can't do any handwriting on library files, previous library annotations all lost; device bricked
Just updated to Firmware 4.0 without realizing it was a beta update. My library docs are still there, but all annotations are gone. I do not have an Onyx account an do not want one--I use Dropsync to sync to Dropbox. I managed to save my Dropbox backup, but I've lost several hours of annotations that had not yet synced (of course, I know I should have done a sync before the update).
Is there any way to restore the lost annotations? I've gone into Storage, but I don't see the file pathway for annotations.
UPDATE: After spending hours on a fix and scouring the forums for solutions, I decided to do a factory reset after managing to download all library and notes files. Thankfully, I managed to recover all notes from my Dropbox folder. The update completely bricked the device (I tried all of the net fixes for recovering the floating toolbar--e.g. changing gesture settings, etc., and none of them worked). I'll know in a bit if a factory reset recovers usability.
Onyx, if you're reading this, please contact me and let me know how to go back to 3.5.4. It did everything I ever needed and worked reasonably well.
UPDATE 2.0: After a factory reset and resyncing to Dropbox (via Dropsync), it looks as though I've recovered my notes, and can see the floating toolbar again (restoring ability to write on documents). It took about 12 hours to figure all this out, and I expect to gain no added functionality from 4.0. Not a great experience for me.

We are afraid that the BOOX device does not support downgrading the firmware version. However, you can update the firmware to the stable version instead of the beta version. In this case, you can try to update the firmware again and check if it is possible to detect and upgrade the firmware.
Regarding the issue with syncing to Dropbox, you could also try to follow the steps below to bind your Dropbox account to the BOOX device. This method for syncing documents does not require an Onyx account.
