Unable to set up a Google work profile on the Max Lumi
I recently got the Max Lumi, and was able to register the device (with a GSF ID) and enable Google Play using my work Google address/account. However, the device asks me to sign in again, and then pulls up a procedure to set up the Google work profile; but this fails, and I get the message "Can't set up work profile." After this point, the Google work profile and all the work apps are removed from the device. After this, nothing works to access or enable the work profile, and I get the message ""the device isn't Play Protect certified" (even though my personal Google profile and apps work fine on the device!).
Please note, again, that the problem is not with enable Google Play or registering the Max Lumi with Google: personal Google account and apps work perfectly fine on the device; the issue is specific to the Google work profile.
I'll be very grateful for your help, as being able to access my work profile and data is very important to me! Than you!

Hello Rava,
Thanks for your post. Apology for any inconvenience that has caused.
The Google verification method that we currently use can only be used for Google personal accounts and does not support work accounts. We will find ways to optimize in the near future.

I wish there was a way to escalate this issue and get more attention with Onyx. I am sure it will boost adoption of their device and increase their market reach for all Onyx models if they can find a way to enable the Work Profile on their Android based platform.

Dear Michelle,
Thanks a lot for your reply!
I have now submitted my question via the Settings/Feeback feature on the Max Lumi. However, I received an immediate 'auto-reply' which does not solve my problem at all! Will I received further feedback from someone at Onyx who will actually go through my question or not? And, if so, through what channel? (I gave my email in the Settings/Feeback feature; will I receive an email?)
Best regards,
Rava

As far as I know, it has not been resolved, i.e., professional accounts cannot be connected. (But please do let me know if it is otherwise or if you figure it out!)

Does anyone have update on this thread? The same problem with Microsoft Work Profile (In Tune).
Cross posting the other thread.
Microsoft In Tune on Android for Onyx Boox – BOOX Help Center

I asked boox help for assistance and they responded that they do not support using work accounts on their devices at this time.

Does anyone have any update, news on this thread?

Hi there. Ask your administrator (or do it yourself on admin.google.com) - change Advanced Mobile Device Management to Basic Management. After that, when adding an Google Workspace account to Boox device will not require the installation of a Device Policy App and the creation of a working profile. However, you can still delete your work account remotely from the Boox device in admin.google.com

Naturally, you can add multiple Google accounts (home and work) to your Boox device.

Thank you Yurii Harasiuk. Unfortunately most corporates, businesses have strict Device Management policies because of data privacy, security, regulatory requirements like GDPR and typically has to enforce Advance Mobile Device Management. The Basic Management only allows for deleting an account remotely but does not isolate Work related apps including Outlook, Keyboard, Clipboard access, prevent screen-shots of work apps and so on which, are required to prevent loss of corporate data.
The bottom line is both Microsoft and Android have specifically created InTune and Work profiles at a platform level to allow a secure access to Work apps on any Android (or Apple) device. Boox should find a way to make this work instead of asking Corporations to change their device management policies.

Of course, each company has certain requirements for the security of their data. My work is closely related to Google Workspace and I understand this. I just suggested a temporary way out of how to use a Google Workspace account on Boox devices. I hope Onyx will not delay with the release of the functionality of the Google Work Profile.

I think I may finally have found an alternative. I am going to try Thinkbook Plus Gen 2 from Lenovo. The Windows 10 and all the Office apps, including Edge or Chrome browser access on eInk solves the problem.

Thanks a lot! I was not aware of the existence of this laptop, which indeed looks really interesting!

A quick update on Lenovo's ThinkBook Plus G2. I have been using it for a week and I can say it is the perfect solution for what I was looking for. You get the best of both, all worlds.
1. You can access all Windows Apps on your e-Ink display. The Lenovo Native app for Notes and Stylus is very good on eInk. In addition, you also get some unique features. For example, I can use an eInk display as a Drawing Board, like a Wacom Tablet, and work on a SketchBook App projected on a different monitor. It is an awesome use case.
2. You can load Amazon App store on Windows 11 so you can access android Apps on your Windows and use it on an eInk display.
3. While InTune does not work, the fact that I can use full-fledge browsers like Edge or Chrome and access my work Outlook, Teams, and so on.
I highly recommend this workaround.

Checking in if anyone found a workaround or any update from the Boox team.

Has anyone tried Boyue Likebook models? These are eInk tablets on Android and has Google Play Store enabled similar to Boox.
