"Upgrade" is a fail.
What, exactly was wrong with the previous behavior on opening a new notebook? Requiring an extra step is intrusive. Not being able to revert the UI is inexcusable. Being able to open a notebook for typing is all well and good, though if I wanted to type notes, I'd use my laptop. It's a much better typing tool. This so-called upgrade has me wishing I'd bought a ReMarkable.
Boox should focus on being a really capable note taking device. Do that one thing well instead of being mediocre at a lot of things. It's niche product. There's nothing wrong with that. Fill that niche well and let others do the other things.
