Applications that use BLE do not discover and connect with BLE peripherals

Using latest build 2023-03-20  NovaAir2 and 2023-03-21 on NovaAirC.

Would love to use your Boox devices for applications that use Bluetooth but it appears it is somehow incompatible with the popular react-native-ble-manager library.  Apps cannot discover and connect with any BLE devices from within the app.  The built-in Bluetooth Settings app can discover devices but play store apps themselves cannot.

This library is used by hundreds of BLE applications but unfortunately it is not compatible with Boox while it is otherwise compatible with virtually every other android phone and tablet.

Please look into fixing whatever is missing to support this library.

cd react-native-ble-manager/example

yarn install

yarn android

 

The Boox is a great device, it would be even better if it supported apps that use BLE devices.

  I found a workaround.  It seems that even though the app permissions had enabled location the 'system' location permission was disabled.  To enable system level location, pull down from top to see quick settings and swipe to the second settings page.  Enable location and BLE will work as expected.
