Screensaver broken when Note 2 falls asleep

When my Note 2 goes to sleep, the wallpaper displays a zoomed-in and sideways copy of one of the default images in the Screensaver app. If I try to wake the device with the power button, the screen backlight comes on but it never starts up the device all the way. I have to either wait for the device to fully fall asleep (then I finally see the wallpaper image in it's normal size and orientation) or I have to long press the power button to hard shutdown the device.

Changing the image in the screensaver app, adding the clock or toggling any of the other options does nothing. It always shows the same sideways zoomed-in image and freezes.

  I am having exactly the same issue on my Nova 2! Have you found a solution? I really don't want to have to reinstall the firmware and start over...

  There was a new firmware update this week. I installed that and it fixed the issue. I didn't lose any data or settings. Just go to Settings > Firmware update.
