Handwritten notes do not show up on Preview app on Mac

The latest update solved the problem of annotations not appearing on pdfs on my Mac, but now I cannot see handwritten notes I took on the ereader. They do show up in the thumbnail images that appear on the side of the app, but not in the main display window on Preview. If I open the pdf in Adobe Acrobat, they do show up however.
