Tab X C – Video Playback Stuttering Issue (Video Demonstration Attached)
Hi Boox Team,
Background:
I’m a long-time Boox user and currently own four Boox e-ink tablets. My latest purchase, the Tab X C, is the only one showing this issue.
Here are the details of the problem:
- When playing videos in full-screen mode, playback runs smoothly for the first few minutes.
- After about 5 minutes, the video begins to stutter, repeating every second, while the audio continues to play normally.
- Tapping the screen immediately fixes the issue temporarily.
- The stuttering returns after 1–2 minutes, even after adjusting different screen and performance settings.
- I’ve already tried multiple display and performance modes, but none resolve the issue.
- I’ve also tested different online video apps (including YouTube, which is shown in the recordings), and all of them exhibit the same problem.
- The same videos play fine on my other Boox tablets, so this seems to be specific to the Tab X C.

I’ve recorded two videos and uploaded them to the YouTube platform to clearly showcase the problem. Both demonstrate how the video playback becomes laggy after a few minutes while the audio remains smooth.

- The issue appears right at the beginning of the video.
- I tap the screen at 02:13, which temporarily resolves it.

- The issue starts around 02:49.
- I tap the screen at 04:00, which temporarily resolves it.
- The problem returns at 07:04.
- I tap the screen again at 08:31, and the video briefly returns to normal.

We apologize for the inconvenience. There is a beta version of firmware 4.1 available for Tab X C. In this case, you could apply for a beta test via Settings > More Settings > System Update > Apply for Beta test. After you join the test program, please update the firmware and check if the problem persists. Many thanks for your understanding. -

I’ve downloaded and installed the beta version of firmware 4.1 as suggested. Unfortunately, the issue still persists, the video playback continues to stutter after a few minutes, just like before.
