Same issue here. Not quite sure when it disappeared, but recently, and I did update recently as well, so it might be related.

I do still see it when I open Apps/App management/App Info, but it is not available in Apps or in the share options.

    I emailed Boox direct, response:

We are sincerely sorry that we have removed the built-in email application in firmware v3.3.2. Therefore, we are afraid that the option of onyx-mail is not available. However, you could still share your notes via send2boox or third-party apps.

Are you kidding me?!? That's a joke. This is the only way I was able to easily get 20+ handwritten file notes per day sent from my tablet to my secretary, from wherever I was located in the world. 2 taps, 3 seconds and it was done. Easy, flawless. I did it from Court, from clients' premises, from airport, from hotel. Now, I can't do it. Use third party apps? What does that mean?? I've got gmail installed on my Note Air 2 Plus but I do not get gmail or any other email option when I tap share on a hand written note. In fact share doesn't even work anymore - it's just a dead end. So now what? Stuff around with cables? Give me a break. Give my secretary access to my drop box or whatever? Not likely. Tap 15 times for each file note for some sort of lame workaround? Winning sales strategy right there! Separately compose an email with attachment each time? Maybe, but with the lag invovled for a Boox tablet navigating between different apps and then tapping out an email and adding an attachment, that's way more labour intensive and time-consuming than the option Boox just deleted without notice. Plus, if I wanted a laptop or an iPad, I would have bought one.

It might not be the case for everyone, but from my perspective and for my use case scenario, the functionality of this tablet just went from "hero" to "zero" in one fell swoop. Another success story for the firmware boffins.

And I feel like an idiot because I've recommended this tablet to 10 other lawyers in my office over the past 5 months for its ease of use. After trialling the writing experience, it's the second question they all asked me - how do we get our handwritten notes to our secretary? Lawyers and electronic hand written file notes are a match made in heaven, but if you make it complicated to use, your product is history. We're too dumb with IT and too time poor and frankly we don't care anyway. We just need it to work, first time, every time, fast and easy. I work in an office of over 300 people. The firm's head of IT has been trialling Supernote. Another lawyer has been trialling Remarkable. I've been batting for the Boox. Guess what the next conversation will sound like....

Why would you unilaterally remove a key feature like this without any warning or explanation and without even giving your customers the ability to choose this? Customers - you know, the folks who fund (or used to fund) your business model. Did Boox just become a subsidiary of Apple? Check the firmware notes for 3.3.2 - lots of important stuff about "optimising text box function" and "more options in Control" but oops neglected to mention "Removing key functionality for emailing notes by deleting onyx-mail share feature". That would have been nice to know before I upgraded to 3.3.2. How can no one in the Boox company have even thought of that? And what treasured functionality will I unexpectedly lose in the next upgrade, and the one after that?

Is it possible to restore to my tablet the previous firmware version before 3.3.2?

You can still share pages from a notebook. From notebook make sure the left toolbar is displayed. On the left toolbar click the bottom left button, more. Then share and export. Then you can choose what pages to share. Then press top right and you will get share options.

I don't get why your Gmail is not showing. I have outlook set up and can share via email. So maybe set it up via Hotmail iif need be.

The process is not as seamless as before but it's really not that bad.

Thanks - that's an alternative way to navigate to the "Share" menu. I just hold the pen down on the note until the pop up menu appears on the screen and I tap on the "Share" option.

Except, now, I get a message which reads "!! Notepad27 already exists. Do you want to replace it?" Options are "Cancel" or "OK". I don't even know what the message means. But anyway, if I tap OK, my share options are only:

    1. "Notes" (don't know what that means) (don't care either, I just want to email it to my secretary and it doesn't do that).

    2. "Bluetooth" - yep well that's great when I'm in Washington DC and my secretary is in Australia.

    3. "Print" - er, no.

    4. "Nearby" - see 1 above.

Same options whichever way I navigate to the Share menu.

Export? Whatever that is supposed to mean, it does not mean export by email. Ends in a dead end as well with only the same Share options at the end of it.

I don't want to have to start a new hotmail email account, I've used the same gmail address for 15 years. Besides, whatever is blocking gmail from being a share option will presumably block all other email options also. And finally I don't want to spend hours troubleshooting a stuff up caused by the vendor of a product which until a month ago worked great. I've got clients waiting for work product and family waiting to share precious family time.

I am appreciative of your suggestions and my annoyance is solely directed at Boox and the frustration it has caused as referened above, not the helpful folks like you who volunteer their time to help IT morons like me.

    Hi,

The workaround from Jon Ross works for me. That's when you within the note itself. I click Share and Export and you can even choose what page(s) you would like to send. Then you can change the name, choose the sort of file (.png, .note, .pdf) and it makes it for me. I have to choose Share again and I get a lot of options, and also Gmail. When I choose Gmail it opens a new mail with the file as attachment.

You workaround is within the shelf with all the notes. When I long press a note, I choose Share and Export and it shows the menu. I can choose a format, a name and then Share, Export or even a QR Code. When I choose Share, severall options appear, also Gmail (and Onedrive, Print, Bluetooth, Drive, Trello, ...). When I choose Gmail it opens a new mail with a .pdf attachment...

    Kind regards,

    Rogier (the Netherlands)

--edit-- you can scroll in the menu where you can choose the 4 options (on my Note Air 2 Plus)! Maybe you can scroll to more options. It remembers the last 4 options you choose from).

As Rogier says, my workaround is to send selected pages from within the notebook. So you have to be in the actual notebook and then use the left toolbar to select "more". If you want to share the whole notebook then you can use your method. I am not sure why gmail is not showing for you, it is likely to be an issue at your end as Rogier can use his and there is no reason for Boox to be blocking email clients. Try scrolling through the options as Rogier suggested.

On a Boox forum on internet I read that some apps are frozen. Somebody said the same that the Gmail app didn't work and did not appear in the share app. In settings you can 'unfrozen' apps so they will work again. Maybe this will help?

    It's in Freeze settings.

See, this is what I mean about taking something that works and wrecking it, and then expecting some other workaround might work for your customers, and expecting them to spend their own time for hours trying to figure it out.

I have spent quite a bit of time trying to "scroll" through the options. There is no scroll available. I have only the options listed in my message above - that's it. No scroll, no other options.

Nor do I have "Freeze" or "Unfrozen" in my settings or anything resembling that. I don't even know what that might mean or where I could find it other than in the settings menu, where there is nothing like that.

Gmail is not an option available for "share". Maybe you folks have a different tablet to me? I don't know. I'm sure those options work for on your tablets but they don't apply to mine. I appreciate the suggestions though. At the end of the day, I just don't have hours and hours to spend trying to explore every potential possible fix that might work for some people but not for others, going down cul-de-sacs and then backing out and trying the next dead end.

Can you imagine if my firm had bought 120 of these last month based on my recommendation and now this happened?? Thank god we are still trialling the options.

I've given up with the Boox and I'm spending my time finding a better tablet - something that offers a simple, robust and intuitive wireless option for emailing filenotes - and that doesn't degrade functionality with so-called "firmware upgrades".

    Hello,

joining Jon Ros and other users in this complain.

This is a key feature that needs to be restored. Also considering switching to another device due to this issue
