Handwriting verification not working in apps

The handwriting verification is not working. For instance in NeoBrowser I click location field, click handwriting mode on keyboard, I write something and the writing is there, but then I see verifying flicker but the text does not show up in the location field of the web browser.

i have a Note Air 3C. This worked fine on my last Boox tablet so I'm confused how this could not be working.
