Feature request - tags improvements
Hi, I've used the Note Air 3 for about 4 months and love the Notes app, and the tags feature. However I feel some improvements would make the tagging feature more useful
1. When I select an area that already has tags applied, I can only see the tags if they had been used on another area recently. This means I can't remove a tag if I have re-thought my tagging schema or I realise I incorrectly tagged something. I'm aware there is limited space and that only recent tags are shown, however I think would be more useful to prioritise tags applied on the current selection, _then_ recent tags up to a maximum.
2. On searching for a tag, a list of blank rectangles with the page number and location are shown. TBF, this is next to useless unless I know the page I'm looking for anyway (in which case I would not have searched in the first place!). It would be more useful to ALSO show additional tags applied on the selection.
For instance, I hold a separate note on topics I have regular meetings on, I tag each page with rought date (month/year), and sub-topic. For example, for customer A I may have discussed routing in May 2024, and twice in routing in July 2024 (with 'problems' on the first call). If I search for 'routing', I would like to see
* [Tags] routing, 2024-may
Page No.: XX
Location: Root Directory\Customer A
* [Tags] routing, 2024-july, problems
Page No.: YY
Location: Root Directory\Customer A
* [Tags] routing, 2024-july
Page No.: ZZ
Location: Root Directory\Customer A
Also, though not essential, get rid of the blank rectangle, it takes up space and serves no purpose. If you want to save more space, format as:
Page No. : XXX - [Tags] AAAA, BBBB, CCCC, etc.,
Location: ..............
3. I'm aware there is limited space on the tags boxes, but I would like to see some way to apply existing tags on a selection, even where they may not have been recently used. At the moment, I have to guess a tag. To use the example above, for the first note of July, had I previously used 'problems' or 'issues' last time this context occurred? If I guess wrong, I may end up with a proliferation of tags meaning the same thing ('problem', 'problems, 'issues', 'errors', etc.) When I pick 'tags' on a selection, maybe have a checkbox or button to bring up a list of existing tags I could apply?
4. When I select an area and pick the 'tags' button, the feature always tries to identify the text that has been selected. 1. Depending upon the selection size, this can take a significant amount of time (probably battery power also). 2. In my case, I never tag a selection with the contents of the selection and always need to remember to discard the identified text, otherwise I end up with a useless tag I cannot remove after a certain point (as per point 1). I may be incorrect but I cannot see anyone ever using the entire selected text as their tag.
(preferably) I would like a global configuration to enable/disable this text recognition on tagging OR (if first option cannot be implemented) text recognition should only work for a limited area of the overall selection. (maybe only the first 3 words??).
To be fair, points 1, 2 and 3 are essential in my feeling. Without them, the tags feature seems only half useful as you cannot usefully search tags, you cannot rely on the tags being consistent, and you cannot fix the tags if you do find them inconsistent. Point 4 is a massive PITA, but if 1, 2 and 3 were delivered would not really impede my use of tags (though it would remain a PITA).
