Tap in the middle of NeoReader does nothing now

When I use NeoReader now, and touch the center of the page I am on to get to the main menu & progress bar, etc., it doesn;t show anymore. I tap in the middle and nothing happens. I have not changed the settings and this problem just started. How can i restore having the menu open again when I touch the center?  Also when I tap either the left or right edge to change page in the respective direction it does nothing. I have to swipe left on the right side to turn the page to the right and vice versa - I did not change this setting either (don't even know how to) - how can I fix it so just a tap on either side turns the page?  Thank you

  Dear customer,

  In this case, you can open a book >  swiping toward the center from the left or the right side of the screen. Then please check if it is possible to bring up the floating toolbar. For your reference, you can try to follow the steps in the video below:

  If still unable to fix the problem, we suggest clearing the storage and cache of NeoReader. Please note that clearing the NeoReader storage will clear the reading progress. However, it will not delete the books. Below are the steps:
