where's the toolbar I need to annotate documents in PDF or Word

I purchased the Max Lumi primarily to avoid printing out hundreds of pages of hard copy when I use a pen to read and annotate and documents in PDF or Word.  I thought that I could open these documents from Google Drive (which I have synced to my Boox device) and then annotate them with the stylus. But I can't figure out any way to have the editing tool appear when I open docs in Word or PDF. Is there a way to make the floating editing bar or editing tool at the bottom appear?  How can I get documents from my Google Drive into a format where the editing tool appears and I can annotate and highlight them with my stylus as I read?  Do I need to use another app?  And if so, how do I get the doc from Google Drive into that app?
