Hello,
I am having the same issue. I have submitted Feedback with logs via my device, but have yet to hear anything back. I have noticed that the problem seems to be on particular PDFs. Those made by myself or classmates support automatic embed of notes/scribbles, but more "official" PDFs that I've downloaded from online journals and other digital libraries do not support embed since the firmware update. When I try to force the embed, they report that "document does not support embed and export." Not sure what changed, but I agree with Erika---HELP! I need those annotations when I move the document to a different device.

I also have the same issue since the firmware update.

Hi, I am facing the same issue

Same problem here and I confirm it happens only on some PDF. As a workaround you can export the notes but it is way less convenient than the previous behavior where notes would be automatically embedded in the pdf

Hi Michele,
Could you please tell me how you export the notes separately? And does that include scribbles as well, or just highlights and annotations?
Thank you!

It's actually quite a pain. You open the TOC sidebar, select the "annotations" section (the icon is a stylus). You should see all the pages in the document with annotations. you select all, and click the export button (lower-right icon). This will save everything in a separate file.

Thanks so much for your lightning-fast reply, you just saved me a lot of work! I was screen-shotting each page before to circumvent the problem...

I had the exact same problem and found out that all the PDFs that had this problem had one thing in common - they had "fast web view" enabled. After opening and resaving them in Adobe Acrobat with fast web view turned off, the problem went away for me. Modifying the metadata and saving the file seems to do the trick as well (i.e. disable fast web view). I did have to reset NeoReader (i.e. clearing all app data) and reload those PDFs, but it had been working perfectly for me since. Hope it helps!
To disable fast web view: https://blogs.ncl.ac.uk/ltdev/2020/04/30/fast-web-view-in-pdf-documents/#:~:text=To%20disable%20fast%20view%20in,Fast%20Web%20View%20%5Bdeselect%5D%20.

Wendy: Could you tell us how you resave the file in Adobe Acrobat with fast web view turned off and how you modify the metadata as well as reset NeoReader? Thanks!

Just wanted to follow up: I did send an error report through the feedback app, and I got back a message giving me access to a beta update that fixes this problem for good. I guess this might be released in the open soon, but if you guys are still struggling with manual saving or changing the document type, this could help

I actually received a firmware update on my device (Boox Air) a few days ago, which solved the problem, so if you haven't got that yet, it will probably come soon!

Hello. I just received my new Boox Max Lumi, and this issue is definitely frustrating. I have tried to export annotated PDFs through direct USB connection (to my Macbook), as well as through Dropbox and Google Drive. My PDFs come through with no annotations at all. Was this always like this, or was there a time in which PDFs could be exported with annotations intact? I have seen a few video reviews where annotated PDFs are transferred fine, so I wonder what caused this issue. Any response if appreciated, as I will return the Max Lumi if this issue is not resolved soon.
