Missing font in Adobe Reader for exported notes

Has anyone else run into a problem where exported notes that have been converted from handwriting using character recognition are not able to be opened in Adobe Reader?

I get an error that reads "There was an error processing an annotation or link. The encoding (CMap) specified by a font is missing."

If I drag the PDF into a Chrome tab, it opens without issue.  The problem also doesn't appear to have anything to do with special characters or symbols as a simple note with just the word "test" that converts correctly will not open.

I'm assuming it's an Adobe issue and not Onyx, but wonder if anyone else has come across a fix.
