How to get auto-rotation working on Poke3?

The User Guide for my Poke3 advertises a „G-sensor“ to „Support Auto-Rotate“ in Chapter 11 (Specifications, p. 119), but I cannot get auto-rotate to work in NeoReader V3.0 (23509-b25416c) with either eBooks or PDFs. The section describing the “Rotation” item in the pull-down “Status Bar” menu (p. 12) also mentions „Support auto-rotation“, but I only see a choice of four orientations and nothing to enable or disable auto-rotation. How can I enable auto-rotation?

  Here is the official response from the "Booxshop Service Team":

  We are sorry that there's a mistake in the manual and we are now updating it.
  
  Please be advised that there is no G sensor with Poke3.
