How to tap on footnotes ?

I often read ebooks with footnotes. They are very (very) small, and most of the time they are behind an active area (next/prev page, or reading parameters). I have to be very lucky when I try to read the text of these footnotes.

Is there an option I haven't seen to make it easier ?

  Thank you for this answer. It won't solve the issue : footnote calls are little numbers written in superscript. It is so small that you can't tap it with your finger.
