I installed it with a direct download to the Chrome APK ....without going through the Play Store and that worked.

I had the same issue. Updating Android System WebView to the latest version under 'Manage apps and device' in the settings of the Play Store app worked for me. I was then able to install Chrome through the Play Store.

I also have this issue, I ended up downloading the apk as well in order to install but it won't let me log in for browser syncing. It says, "This account already exists on your device"

I wonder, how am I supposed to sign into chrome for syncing as it doesn't seem to work (perhaps because I installed via the apk)

@Pgjainsworth, where is the Android System WebView? I can't find it anywhere, thanks!

I was able to install old version of Chrome using Boox "App Store".

I then updated all installed apps by doing this:  start Google "Play Store", click on profile picture (upper right corner when logged in), first item below "Manage your Google Account" line is:  "Manage apps & device".  click that and you'll see "Update all" and "See details" for all updates available.

I had five apps waiting for updates, including Chrome.

    "Update all" button updated everything.

Thanks Donut Pirate, i had some recognition file and Android System WebView that needed an update but Chrome was fine. My apk was the newest version downloaded just this morning. I'm thinking whether side loaded or through the Boox app store and updated, it's the same.

Still stuck on how to log in and sync though.

I plan to try to log out of my google search app and then re-log into the chrome app. I wonder if that would work

Hmmm...  The Chrome downloaded from "App Store" initially logged me in automatically with my google account I use in "Play Store".  I remember thinking, "well that was easy".

Okay, I just blew away Chrome from my Note Air and reinstalled directly from "Play Store".  Now it installs fine, runs and initially logs me in automatically asking me if I want to enable "sync" (which I did).

I wonder since you now have updated your Android System WebView, blowing away Chrome and reinstalling from "Play Store" might prove successful (where it auto-logs you in using your "Play Store" login)?

Thanks for the reply, I did try blowing it away, also blew away the account in the boox settings as well so it would have to ask for log in again, etc. I guess it just doesn't want to sync for whatever reason. I log in but it doesn't sync. Then when I try to manually, it still says that account already exists again. I might have to live with it or try other things later. I don't really want to do a reset since I have set up so much already but i've toyed with the idea. Instead, I'm getting used to using bookmarks again and saving articles on "pocket" ha :p

I spent ages trying to log in to Chrome and gave up in the end. Had the same thing with Chrome telling me that the account already exists. Lots of threads suggested clearing the Google account in the Boox settings and then logging in through Chrome but all that does for me is add the Google account back to the Boox settings and Chrome remains not logged in.

I went down a real rabbit hole of trying to get Chrome to the latest version but this requires installation of the trichrome library as shown when trying to update it using the Aurora Store App. I couldn't get it to work though in the end. Even after side loading the trichrome library I couldn't update Chrome.

It has made me question my Chrome addiction. Firefox is looking pretty attractive all of a sudden.

I tried all the above (Play Store, App Store, settings, deleting storage, etc) several times, still unable to log in as Chrome indicates that the account is already logged in. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Hi vp,

To resolve this issue, please follow the steps below:

    1) Please long-press the Chrome app icon first, and then, please click "Manage". After that, please click "Storage & Cache", and then click "Clear Storage".

    2) Please open the Permissions page and allow 'Contacts' permission.

After the steps above, it should be able to resolve the issue with Chrome.

    Many thanks for your understanding.

I can confirm that worked perfectly. Thank you very much for the solution.
