    Hello,

Thanks for your post, our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Boox e-readers don't support work or school accounts, and the work apps such as Company portal and InTune. We will find ways to optimize in the near future.

Just bought a Air2 and after spending one hour I was not able to get Intune work properly - this is a deal breaker if a work account is not supported.

I had reached out to the technical support team the technician indicated they have no way to even test this at their end because they do not have Microsoft InTune account. It was a deal-breaker for me as well and unfortunately it does not look like the product owners even understand what the requirement is for enabling Work profile.

What a bummer that a device that has the hardware to boost efficiency at work or school simply does not support this (despite this is a native Android capability)

totally agree. In fact, I would think work and school would be their primary target customers. People who have to use tablets or devices as part of their work would likely be the ones opting to switch to e-Ink devices to avoid LED Blue Light and work in evenings etc..  At least, that was the primary reason for me to look for an eInk Android device.

Really disappointed here too.  I feel it should be clearly stated on the product page that this is not supported as it is a feature of android and it would be expected to be present  :(

Does anyone have any update, news on this thread?

I would very much recommend that Onyx deal with this in an update. I will probably be returning my Note 5because of this. The device has the hardware and the price tag of a productivity focused product - but lack of support of intune kills it for me.

I had to do the same. Cancelled Note 5 order before it could ship. They seem to have such a great product and unfortunately are failing to address the needs of a key market segment.

Has anyone tried Boyue Likebook models? These are eInk tablets on Android and has Google Play Store enabled similar to Boox.

Boox Service Team Thank you for the response; do you have any insight on when will it be supported? Any product roadmap view?

This is really important to me, too. I used to have one with a company that didn't use InTune. I was about to buy another to use at my new employer but glad I saw this first.

Simon Collier - thank you for posting it; hopefully enough people will raise this as a requirement for Boox to add it as a feature to their product roadmap. Alternatively, I am hoping some of the eInk Readers will enable Google Play and InTune on their device. The one I found so far is Boyue Likebook, but they seem to be stuck on Android 8.1 and it is not clear if they support InTune.

I think I may finally have found an alternative. I am going to try Thinkbook Plus Gen 2 from Lenovo. The Windows 10 and all the Office apps, including Edge or Chrome browser access on eInk solves the problem.

A quick update on Lenovo's ThinkBook Plus G2. I have been using it for a week and I can say it is the perfect solution for what I was looking for. You get the best of both, all worlds.

    1. You can access all Windows Apps on your e-Ink display. The Lenovo Native app for Notes and Stylus is very good on eInk. In addition, you also get some unique features. For example I can use eInk display as a Drawing Board, like a Wacom Tablet and work on a SketchBook App projected on a different monitor. It is an awesome use case.

    2. You can load Amazon App store on Windows 11 so you can access android Apps on your Windows and use it on an eInk display.

    3. While InTune does not work, the fact that I can use full-fledge browsers like Edge or Chrome and access my work Outlook, Teams, and so on.

    I highly recommend this workaround.

I got it to work on my AIR2... however it is a bit odd because the "work" apps are only available when using "app-management?" So its a bit of a work around.

Can you share the steps you followed to get it working on your Air2?

Sure! I first installed onedrive, tried to login with my corporate mail: didnt work -> but got redirected to the intune site. So I installed intune.

After installing intune nothing happened and couldnt login to onedrive obviously.

So I went to APPS -> App-Management (dont know the correct title, I have Dutch settings) -> APP info -> work -> and tada Google play Store was there. So I installed onedrive from there, and it worked.

Thank you Martijn S I wish I knew about the workaround before I returned my device. I am trying to see this on my phone, a Samsung Device and I see a 'Work Profile' that can be activated or inactivated.

Is it possible for you to share the screen-shots of 'App Management, 'App info', 'work', 'Google Play Store'.

Once installed there, how do you access the Work apps? Do the apps show up in the Boox App gallery like other PlayStore apps or do you have to navigate through the Work Profile every time you need to access the app?

    Thank you again.

    Hey Martijn,

You're certainly on to something as on my Nova3C, I can see the work apps in the App Management->App Info section of the device with their work profile badges on the icons.  However I can't find a way to launch apps from the App Info screen.  How did you accomplish that?

  • Martijn S

Did you install the microsoft apps from the installed google-play-store? If so you can after installing open the app from "app-info" and click open/launch.

This is awesome - finally. Still not very user-friendly, but it is working. Made my day. Thank you. (BTW: nothing mentioned in the release notes....)

Turns out on the Nova3C there is no button to launch or open the app in the app info screen... just disable and force stop. I just received a Nova AirC and on that device the third button to open apps is present. Work apps work great on the AirC. My Nova3C was updated to the latest firmware when I looked into this.

    Hey,

I can confirm Martijn's instructions. This morning I did it on my Note Air 2 Plus with German language.
Once opened, they can be accessed via the opened apps. To do this, I use the Boox Ball on the screen and tap on the two squares on top of each other.
In the future, I hope for a more user-friendly solution, as it is an elemantary function in a professional environment.

    Regards
    Thomas

Any update on support for intune for these? We are considering them however we have the requirement to be able to manage over Intune and install Microsoft Defender.

Did anyone else have an issue where InTune is mandating the Android software be updated to Security Patch Level 2021-11-01 - my air 2 did this and I couldn't figure out how to update Android software on the device.

From what I understand about Boox, their OS support is one and done. The version of Android you start with will remain in place for the life of the device. It sounds like your organization requires up-to-date security patches so you're out of luck with these devices.

Though I wish it were otherwise, consider these devices more as appliances and less like phones... if you need a new feature, you buy a newer version of the device.

They do fetch a good price on the eBay resale market though!

That was 7 months ago, so what is the status of this?
