Bug Report: Reversed Page-Turn Buttons in Landscape (Boox Go 7 Series, NeoReader)

On the latest firmware (4.1.1), page-turn buttons behave inconsistently in landscape orientation (90° and 270 ° , both landscape modes).

 

When the device is in landscape mode with the page-turn buttons positioned at the bottom of the screen, the button behavior is reversed in NeoReader:

•Left button turns to the next page

•Right button turns to the previous page

(vice versa with the opposite landscape mode, buttons at the top of the screen)

 

While not critical (as switching to button “Mode 2” is a workaround), this inconsistency is pretty much annoying and distracting. The button behavior in landscape should be mirrored correctly, as it is in portrait modes.

 

On firmware 4.1.1, This issue appears to be specific to NeoReader, other Android apps seem to handle page-turn buttons correctly.

  I'm writing to confirm this behavior on v4.1.1 (release 2025-12-24) on Boox Go Color 7 as I too am looking for a fix.

  Configuring the Smart Buttons on the Boox Settings states that, and I quote, "The side button direction changes with screen orientation". Which would lead me to believe that if I'm using Mode 1 (where top button is previous page and bottom button is next page), once I turn to landscape mode with buttons at the bottom of the screen, they should be reversed automatically.

  But this is not happening in NeoReader. Instead in landscape mode (w/buttons on bottom), the side buttons DO NOT change direction as it says they should. As Kayoung Kim stated above:

  •Left button (bottom when in portrait mode) still turns to the next page
  •Right button (top when in portrait) turns to the previous page

  Workaround is to reconfigure the buttons every time you switch to landscape, but not only is that a huge pain in the butt, it's also not the intended behavior. This behavior can be observed in both NeoReader and Kindle app.
