Notes app text very "thin" until full screen refresh
I got the 2025-12-09_15-36_4.1.1-rel_1202_b14f57609 firmware update for my Note Air 4C 2 days ago. Since then the notes app hasn't worked correctly. Specifically, as I write with the pen the ink seems very, very thin and has "holes" in it rather than being a complete shape. After writing it stays like that until I do something that causes a screen refresh (e.g. click on the pen tool to select a different color) at which point the text immeidately fills in and looks solid. But, until I take some action like that the text is essentially unreadable. Interestingly, I recorded the screen with the screen record tool to submit a feedback request but in the recording the writing looks fine even though it doesn't "in real life" - it's like it *thinks* it's refreshed the screen when it hasn't.
I've rebooted twice and tried changing the e-ink settings and pen settings but nothing helps.

Dear customer,
It is normal that the stroke will change a little bit after refreshing the screen. When writing on the page, the refresh mode will be in fast mode as it needs a faster refresh rate to render the initial stroke. Therefore, the display quality of the stroke is not the best in fast mode. Once you finish writing and tap the icons on the toolbar, the screen will refresh, and it will re-render the stroke to improve the display quality. Thus, it is normal that the stroke will be slightly different after refreshing the screen. It is not a software issue. Many thanks for your understanding. -
Hi, and thanks for the reply. Yes, I know that it's normal for a slight change after a screen refresh. That's not what I'm talking about here. Before the update I would write with the pen and be able to read what I just wrote and the lines would look fairly normal. After the update the lines are so thin and spotty that I literally can't read what I just wrote and the lines don't fill in at all unless I do something to trigger a refresh. The notes app, which is my main use case for this device, is truly non-functional in this state.
I uploaded some images to Google Drive so you can see what I'm seeing. Here's an example before I force a refresh. This was written with a fairly thick pen: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EPiHPMgpTilhtaNtoCWFKVXS5yults0y/view?usp=drive_link
And here's the same text after I manually force a screen refresh: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JhEZuJNcQE0xyMqSznPi5yWt_tWH_aVC/view?usp=drive_link
And here's a similar pair of images but written with a thinner pen:
before: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Sjj88xVImlrSfxZRJ_vtxwglqEWWpKcf/view?usp=drive_link
after: https://drive.google.com/file/d/19vqj983MJFUFljBrDBE6P_z9Ti66MqxM/view?usp=drive_link
I hope you'll agree that this isn't the normal difference pre and post refresh; this is a fairly serious issue and it appears to have been triggered by the firmware update (I was using it when I got the firmware update notification and it was fine, and then after installation and reboot it looked like these screen shots.
