Firmware 4.2 Feedback – Productivity & Ecosystem Improvements
Hello Boox Team,
I've been using the 4.2 firmware on my Go 10.3 Lumi and wanted to share some feedback. The direction you're taking with Calendar and Notes — particularly around Google and Microsoft sync — is encouraging. That said, I think there's an opportunity to go further, especially from an ecosystem productivity standpoint.
A few specific observations:
1. Reminders are device-local only. When I create a reminder on the Go 10.3, it doesn't appear on my desktop or phone. It would be significantly more useful if reminders could sync as Google Tasks or Microsoft To-Do items, giving users a complete view of their workload across all devices.
2. The default calendar for new events appears to be the Boox Calendar, which does not automatically sync to Microsoft (or presumably Google) calendars. Users have to manually change the calendar selection each time. I'd suggest either defaulting to the user's connected calendar, or making this a configurable setting.
3. Calendar/Memo would benefit from lined paper and template support. Even a basic set of note templates would meaningfully improve the writing experience.
On a broader note, as the owner of a Go 10.3, Note Max, and Note Air 5C, I find the standard Android tablet home screen approach doesn't suit the productivity use case well. I'd love to see a dedicated home page that provides a high-level view of upcoming calendar events, tasks, and recent notes — something closer to a daily dashboard. The Go 10.3 with V4.2 is currently the closest to what I want, but that home page is the missing piece.
Lastly, I'd love to see a device in the 12" range — roughly iPad-sized — that sits between the Note Max and Go 10.3. I think that form factor would be an ideal balance of portability and screen real estate.
Overall, 4.2 is a step in the right direction. I'm hopeful the next release closes the gap on true cross-device productivity.
Thank you for the continued development.
