Boox Palma 2 backlight uneven?

I've had my Palma 2 for a while, and should the lights at the bottom of the screen be like 2 flashlights pointing up from the bottom corners to light it? It's the only thing I haven't liked about it. I had been expecting a more consistent lighting, like a phone or kindle backlight. I finally thought to ask.
